PIÑA is back and is moving to La Cita Bar!
Hola, familia! La Junta crew here, writing this to you with so much excitement!! We’ve all been waiting with unwavering hope, and now our City of Angels is ever so close to a full reopening after fifteen months of the COVID lockdown…so we have an announcement:
IT’S TIME TO MOVE!!
This has a double meaning for us. 1) We can’t wait to see you and get down on the dance floor with you all, and 2) PIÑA has a new home at La Cita Bar!!
You read that right. PIÑA moves to DTLA’s most renowned and beloved neighborhood bar, La Cita, on Friday, June 18th! The evening features La Junta Sound System (deejays degruvme, Yukicito & Glenn Red) playing Cumbia, Salsa, Reggaeton, Samba, and other Afro-Latin rhythms, plus a live performance by the always fun and frenetic LA rockeros, Spaghetti Cumbia!
Gather your dance floor fam, make a plan and we’ll see you on the 18th!

Where: La Cita: 336 S Hill St, Los Angeles, CA 90013 || 21+|| $10 at the door || 9pm to 2am

Main things to know:
1) the event will be outdoors on the patio of The Fields LA.
2) $10 for entry. With your $10 ticket, if you arrive prior to 1pm, you can choose a free item at any of the food stations.
3) Instead of a single brunch station, all Fields LA food stations will be open. You pay only for what you order.
4) The $25 unlimited mimosa package is available from 12pm-3pm and includes admission to the event.

We had such a blast with everyone at last Friday’s PIÑA 2 Year Anniversary! We’re overjoyed at how the event has evolved into one of DTLA’s sureshot events for a Friday night! We sincerely want to thank each and every of you who’ve ever come out to El Dorado for our event and tore it up on the dance floor and sipped at the bar. You are everything.
Special thanks to the great teams from K-LOVE 107.5 FM and JACK DANIELS ® for their support of our anniversary event. We hope to do even more fantastic events with them in the future! And of course, much love and gratitude to Todd Simon and Fred Locks for bringing their stellar musicianship and great energy to the celebration…we cannot wait to have them back soon!!

Tropi-Cal Tour ∙ April 2019 recap…
Much love to the good folks of CUMBIATRON & Mezcal Lounge Fresno, ¡WEPA! & Deer Lodge Ojai, SONIDO TROPICAL & SLO Brew Rock San Luis Obispo for showing us fun and memorable times during last weekend’s La Junta Tropi-Cal Weekend Tour. Over the three days, we traveled about 750 miles, met some really cool people, hit three parties with fun music, and had plenty of terrific food along the way (We think the resounding favorite among the crew was the BBQ dinner thrown for us by DJ Elixir of WEPA and his wife Adriana, seen in the featured image–those ribs though!). We also really loved the hard-driving cumbia sonidera deejay sets by El Selector, Don del Toro and Jalinche of the Cumbiatron crew, as well as all of the mesmerizing cumbia dancers who swung all night long at Mezcal Lounge. Sunday’s afternoon brunch gig in SLO was the perfect way to end the weekend and our tour. Though quite windy at times, it was a sunny and relaxed affair where we got to spend Easter outdoors at a large brewery with a brunch buffet, beer/mosas, cornhole, ping pong and other games. We also got to stretch out musically, adding disco, soul, rock and a few other types of sounds to our regularly scheduled tropical repertoire.

7th Annual Latin Food Fest (LA)
Our boys Glenn Red, degruvme and Yukicito will be providing all the wonderful Afro-Latin sounds that you can sip and grub to as you stroll the grounds tasting all the incredible flavors from LA’s top Latinx food chefs and restaurants.
