Jan 24, 2019 | YANGA x NYCT Release Party

On Thursday January 24th, La Junta are excited and honored to support our friends from the band YANGA, Southern California’s foremost torchbearers of the traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms! Together, we’ll be celebrating the release of two volume singles on Brooklyn-based record label, NAMES YOU CAN TRUST.

For those who have followed us for some time, you already know how much we love the band and that we’re thrilled to work with them every time. The bill also includes the funky, psychedelic Latin sounds of SISTER MANTOS as well as the high energy, discolicious selections of DJ VICK JAGGER. MEL LOERA (aka Miss Chief) hosts the evening.

As always, there’s lots goin’ on in LA on this night, and this is one of them. See you at La Cita!

Doors at 8pm | Admission $8.00

Peace out 2018…

HAPPY NEW YEAR from La Junta!!

We sincerely thank you for another year of your strong support and sweet friendship. You all continue to amaze and enrich our lives as we grow, morph and shift while on our mission to create spaces for our community of good people to gather in the name of good music. We’re so, so grateful to you for attending our events, booking us to deejay, and trusting us to produce and curate musical programs. Most of all, thank you for having fun with us!

And we certainly had fun on New Year’s Eve, right?! Below are the photos the PIÑA NYE Celebration at El Dorado. With so many fantastic parties happening in Los Angeles, we were definitely grateful and blessed that so many of you came out to join us. In fact, we unexpectedly hit capacity. Much love and respect to our guest performers–AL JACKSON, GARFIELD ADAMS and SAMBA ROYALE feat. NICOLEA PETTIS–for sharing their wonderful talent. Extra thanks as well, to the Soul Children’s mcdj1One aka ALEX BURLEY for holding down the mic duties in the main room.

Thank you for coming looking beautiful and dapper, and dancing your booties off all night long! As always, like, tag and share! We’ll see you back at El Dorado for the first PIÑA of the year on Friday, January 11th!

What are you doing New Year’s Eve?!

Happy Holidays, Everyone!

Azalea – Dia De Los Muertos Celebration

Big thanks to the community of South Gate, CA and the management of Azalea Regional Shopping Center for having LA JUNTA curate the musical acts and provide sound for the 2018 Dia de los Muertos celebration! Below are the photos we shot of all the amazing costumes, altars, kids’ activities, vendors, deejays, musicians and community members. We had a great time helping activate the parking lot for the good folks of Southeast LA!

Special thanks to our featured live band LA MERA CANDELARIA, our guest deejays SIZZLE and FUNKY CARAMELO, as well as to all the awesome vendors who provide these community events with such style and good energy. Look for more community-oriented La Junta gatherings in 2019!!

Night of the *Dancing* Dead

¡Hola, Folks!

It’s been a little over a month since our last post! Since the summer ended, the four of us have really just been normalizing and decompressing a bit after a jam-packed summer of fun and amazing but equally grueling shows. We’re proud of having produced our La Junta seasonal events at three different venues with distinctly different vibes (and challenges); of having produced a show with a Latin Grammy®-nominated international artist; and of producing shows for brand new partner clients, all in the space of six months. This while still growing our monthly late night PIÑA sessions!

Even though we’re now in autumn and starting to shift things indoors, last weekend the LA area was blessed with a few warm days and nights, in timely fashion for our second salsa music event with the good folks who represent the Old Pasadena business and arts district. Below is collection of photos taken by our own Prescilla and Yukicito throughout the opening evening of this year’s Old Pasadena Day of the Dead celebration. For 2018, it was newly titled ‘SALSA ON THE ALLEY’. Based on the comments on social media channels, it looks like we had a hit! We already cannot wait until next year! Sincerest gratitude to the OPMD staff, the City of Pasadena, Cuba Rumba (featured live band), Prestige Dance & Fine Arts (dance instructors), Sólido (congas) and Rubén Salinas (saxophone).

Enjoy the photos.

Summer isn’t over yet…

Happy September, Angelenos!

We’re ready for one last family gathering–a feet-on-the-ground, backyard boogie style getdown at one of the coolest hidden gems of a venue in all of the city!
